Fruit Cocktail Dessert - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar (granulated)
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 egg
    1 (1 lb.) can fruit cocktail
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
    1 c. nuts, chopped
Preparation
    Mix together sugar, flour, soda and salt and add egg, slightly beaten, one can fruit cocktail, undrained, vanilla and 1/2 of the nuts.
    Pour into buttered pan, 9 x 9-inch or round 9-inch pie pan. Mix remaining nuts into brown sugar and sprinkle over top.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 50 to 60 minutes.
    Serve with whipped cream; good warm. Serves 8.
