Walnut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. Crisco
    5 eggs (save 2 whites for icing)
    3 c. flour (if plain, add 1 tsp. salt)
    1 tsp. soda
    1 1/2 c. buttermilk
    1/2 c. pecans, finely chopped
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. walnut flavoring
    1 can walnuts, finely chopped
Preparation
    Cream together shortening and sugar.
    Stir in other ingredients, saving half the nuts and 2 egg whites for the icing and using half the nuts in the cake batter.
    Bake in four layers for 20 to 25 minutes at 375\u00b0.
