Quick Onion Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 lb. butter or margarine
    2 lb. onions, sliced
    2 cans beef consomme
    1 1/2 c. water
    6 slices French bread, toasted
    grated Parmesan cheese
Preparation
    Melt butter
    or
    margarine
    in\tsaucepan.
    Saute sliced onions over medium
    heat until golden brown.
    Lightly salt and pepper onion slices.
    Add\tconsomme and water and simmer until heated through.
    Pour soup into serving bowls.
    Place a square of toast in each bowl and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
