Crumb Coffee Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1/2 c. butter
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1 egg, beaten
1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 c. nuts

Preparation

Sift together sugar, flour and spices.
Work in shortening as in making baking powder biscuits.
Set aside 1 cupful.
Mix together beaten egg and milk, then add soda and baking powder. Add to flour mixture and mix well.
Add raisins and nuts.
