1/4 c. warm water
1 pkg. yeast
1/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk, scalded
1/2 c. cold water
1 egg, beaten
3 1/2 c. flour
Preparation

Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water.
Add a pinch of sugar to the yeast water; set aside.
