Beignets(Makes 36) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. warm water
    1/4 c. granulated sugar
    1/2 c. canned evaporated milk
    2 Tbsp. vegetable shortening
    vegetable oil
    1/8 oz. quick-rising active dry yeast
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 egg, lightly beaten
    3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    powdered sugar
Preparation
    Place water in bowl.
    Sprinkle with yeast.
    Let stand 5 minutes.
    Combine sugar, salt, milk, egg and shortening in large bowl.
    Stir in yeast and gradually add flour.
    Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate several hours.
