Applesauce Loaf - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1 3/4 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 c. applesauce
    1/2 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation
    Stir to soften the shortening.
    Gradually add sugar, creaming until light.
    Add eggs; beat until light and fluffy.
    Sift together dry ingredients.
    Add to creamed mixture alternately with applesauce, beating well after each addition.
    Stir in nuts.
    Pour into wax paper lined 9 1/2 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
    Bake in moderate oven at 350\u00b0 for about 1 hour.
    Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove to cooling rack.
