Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1-1/2 c. white or yellow cornmeal
1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 egg, slightly beaten
3/4 c. milk

Preparation

Sift dry ingredients together, add onion.
Add beaten egg and milk; stirring lightly.
Drop 1 teaspoon of batter for each hush puppy into hot grease.
Fry a few at a time until golden brown.
