"Stretcher" Oyster Stew - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. finely diced potatoes
1 c. water
2 tsp. salt
1 pt. oysters, drained and cut coarsely or chopped
1 pt. oyster liquor (add milk to make 1 pt.)
1/3 c. butter or regular margarine
1 c. light cream or dairy half and half
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. paprika
Preparation

Perfect to fix when oyster supply is scarce--potatoes are the \"stretchers.\"
