*Cherry Preserves("Liko") - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. red cherries
    2 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
    4 c. water
    juice of 1 lemon
Preparation
    Remove pits from cherries and rinse in cold water.
    Drain. Place sugar, water and cream of tartar in a large pot and bring to a boil. Boil syrup for 10 minutes and add cherries. Simmer for 40 minutes. Add lemon juice 5 minutes before removing from heat. Cool and pour into clean, dry jars.
