Herbed Beer Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. self-rising flour
    3 Tbsp. granulated sugar
    1 Tbsp. dried Italian herbs or 1 tsp. each oregano, basil and thyme
    12 oz. beer (at room temperature)
    1/2 c. Parmesan cheese, grated
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    3 Tbsp. cornmeal
    2 Tbsp. soft butter or margarine
Preparation
    In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cheese and dried herbs. Mix well to combine. Stir in the room temperature beer to produce a stiff batter.
    Preheat oven to 325\u00b0.
    Grease a loaf pan with the shortening and sprinkle bottom and sides with the cornmeal. Turn batter into pan.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for about 65 minutes. Brush baked loaf with softened butter and sprinkle with additional cornmeal, if desired. Turn out and cool on rack.
