Ingredients

1 c. softened oleo or butter
1 1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. Quaker oats (quick or regular, uncooked)
1 (12 oz.) pkg. Nestle semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c. coarsely chopped nuts (optional)
2 Tbsp. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation

Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
Beat oleo and sugar until creamy.
Add eggs, milk and vanilla; beat well.
Add flour, baking soda and salt.
Mix well.
Stir in oats, chocolate chips and nuts.
Mix well.
Drop by rounded teaspoonful onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 9 to 10 minutes for chewy cookie or 12 to 13 minutes for crisp cookie.
Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire rack.
Cool completely.
Makes about 5 dozen 2 1/2-inch cookies.
