Congo Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 3/4 c. sifted flour
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. shortening (butter preferred)
    2 1/4 c. light brown sugar (1 lb. pkg.)
    3 eggs
    1 c. nutmeats, broken
    1 pkg. Nestle's semi-sweet chocolate morsels
Preparation
    Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt.
    Melt shortening and add brown sugar.
    Stir until well mixed.
    Allow to cool slightly.
    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Add dry ingredients, then nutmeats and chocolate.
    Pour into greased pan, about 10 1/2 x 15 1/2 x 3/4-inch.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
    When almost cool, cut into squares, about 2 x 2-inch.
