Grandma Janie'S Best Peach Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 (29 oz.) cans peach halves, drained
    1 1/2 c. plus 2 Tbsp. sugar
    3/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter
    2 Tbsp. vanilla extract
    1 1/4 c. milk
    4 large eggs
    1/3 c. all-purpose flour
    3/4 c. water
    1/2 c. solid vegetable shortening
    5 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 c. sugar
    4 tsp. baking powder
    2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Combine peaches, 1/2 cup of the sugar, 3/4 cup of the butter and the vanilla in a heavy pot over medium heat.
    Lower to simmer and melt the butter.
    Stir the 1/3 cup of flour into the 3/4 cup of water in a small bowl until smooth.
    Stir this paste into the peaches.
