Apple Crisp - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sliced, pared and cored cooking apples
    1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    3/4 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
    1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
Preparation
    Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Put apples into greased 1 1/2 qt. shallow baking dish.
    blend flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt with butter or margarine to a mealy consistency; sprinkle over apples. Bake 30 to 40 min. or until apples are tender and topping is slightly crusty and brown.
    Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.
    Makes 6 to 8 servings.
