Ingredients

3 1/2 c. plain flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 tsp. ginger
1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. margarine
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
2 tsp. grated orange rind
Preparation

Sift together first 6 ingredients.
Cream margarine and sugar until fluffy.
Beat in unbeaten egg; stir in molasses and orange rind.
Blend in dry ingredients and then chill overnight.
Roll dough 1/8-inch thick on lightly floured board.
Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters.
Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
Makes about 6 dozen cookies.
