Cheddar Chowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. water
    2 c. diced potatoes
    1/2 c. diced carrots
    1/2 c. diced celery
    1/4 c. chopped onion
    salt and pepper
    1/4 c. butter
    1/4 c. flour
    2 c. cubed ham
    2 c. grated Cheddar cheese
Preparation
    Combine water and vegetables with salt and pepper in a large pot.
    Boil 10 to 12 minutes.
    Meanwhile, in a saucepan, melt butter.
    Add flour and stir until smooth.
    Slowly add milk and cook until thickened.
    Add cheese; stir until melted.
    Add sauce and ham to undrained vegetables.
    Heat through and serve.
