Divinity - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 cups sugar
    1/2 cup water
    1/2 cup white Karo syrup
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 cup chopped nuts
    2 egg whites
Preparation
    Mix together all ingredients in large sauce pan.
    Cook until thick and will spin a thread.
    While this is cooking, beat two egg whites until they are fluffy.
    Slowly pour syrup over egg whites beating constantly with a mixer.
    Add vanilla and chopped nuts. Beat with spoon until firm enough to drop on waxed paper. Add food coloring if desired.
