Hamburger Soup (Or Turkey)(Great!) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef or turkey
    1 medium onion, chopped finely
    1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes, chopped
    2 c. water
    2 cans consomme or 2 1/2 to 3 cubes chicken or beef stock cubes, dissolved in 4 1/2 c. hot water
    1 can tomato soup
    4 carrots, chopped
    1 bay leaf
    2 stalks celery, chopped
    parsley
    1/2 tsp. thyme
    pepper to taste
    8 Tbsp. barley or equal amount small macaroni
Preparation
    Brown meat and onion.
    Drain well.
    Combine all ingredients, except pasta, in large pot.
    Cover and simmer at least 2 hours or all day.
    Put pasta in 1 hour before serving.
    Serve with salad and crusty bread.
    Serves 10.
