Ingredients

3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour (omit baking soda, if self-rising flour)
pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and flavoring thoroughly.
Slowly blend in flour.
Cover dough.
Chill for 1 hour.
Heat oven to 350\u00b0 or 400\u00b0.
Roll out dough and cut cookies.
Place cookies on ungreased cooking sheet.
Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until golden brown.
