Boiled Custard - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. milk
    3 egg yolks
    1/2 c. cold milk
    1 c. sugar
Preparation
    Heat 1 quart of rich milk in double boiler.
    When hot, add the well beaten yolks of 3 eggs, diluted with 1/2 cup cold milk.
    Beat the whites to a stiff froth, adding a pinch of salt.
    When well beaten, add 1 cup sugar and beat until smooth.
    Add slowly the heated milk and cook until thick.
