Ingredients

8 c. bread crumbs
12 Tbsp. melted butter or margarine
6 c. cooking apples, in slices or chunks
4 Tbsp. lemon juice
2 c. brown sugar
1 1/3 c. hot water
Preparation

Brown the bread crumbs in the butter.
Place 1/3 of the bread crumbs in the bottom of a baking dish and add half of the apples. Sprinkle this with lemon juice and brown sugar.
Then add 1/3 of the bread crumbs.
Top with the remaining apples, lemon juice and brown sugar.
Cover with the remainder of the bread crumbs.
Bake in a preheated 375\u00b0 oven for about 30 minutes.
Serve this with warm ice cream, milk or whipped cream.
