Grandma Lossie'S Cheese Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. self-rising flour
    1/2 c. shortening (early cooks used lard)
    3/4 c. milk
    1/2 lb. medium sharp Cheddar cheese
Preparation
    Sift flour into bowl.
    Make a well in center and add shortening.
    Mix flour and shortening together until mealy.
    Add milk gradually to form a soft dough.
    Continue to work in rest of flour to form a dough that can be handled.
    Knead dough in bowl or on floured board about 3 to 5 times.
    Pinch off biscuit size pieces of dough and flatten slightly in the hand.
    Put a 1-inch piece of medium sharp Cheddar cheese in center and pull edges up to seal well.
    Place sealed edge down on baking sheet. Bake at 450\u00b0 for about 12 minutes.
    Serve hot.
    Cheese will be melted inside.
