Red Beans And Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. red beans (such as pinto)
    1 lb. ground beef
    2 Tbsp. oil
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 envelope Chili-O mix
    1 clove crushed garlic
    1/2 tsp. dried basil
    1 Tbsp. chili powder
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes with liquid
    6 c. cooked rice
Preparation
    Wash and pick over beans.
    Place in large pot.
    Cover with water; bring to a boil.
    Boil for 2 minutes.
    Cover.
    Turn off heat; let stand 1 hour.
    Simmer for 1 or 2 hours, until beans are half cooked.
    Brown the meat in oil with onion in a large skillet. Add Chili-O mix, garlic, chili powder and basil; mix well.
    Stir in tomato sauce and tomatoes.
    Cover; allow this to stand for a few hours.
    Heat through with the rice when ready to serve.
    Makes 10 to 12 servings.
