Cream Of Broccoli And Cheese Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 slices bacon, fried crisp (reserve bacon grease)
    1 small onion, chopped
    2 cans chicken broth
    1 lb. Velveeta cheese, cut into cubes
    2 c. half and half
    2 pkg. frozen chopped broccoli, cooked
    1 can mushrooms, drained
    approximately 2 Tbsp. arrowroot, cornstarch or flour for thickening
Preparation
    Cook onion in bacon grease until soft.
    Add chicken broth; heat to boiling.
    Add cubed cheese and, stirring continually, heat until melted.
    Mix the arrowroot, cornstarch or flour well with half and half or some water.
    Add half and half, cooked broccoli, mushrooms and thickening mixture.
    Heat until serving temperature reached; stir occasionally.
