Green Bean Thyme - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 Tbsp. oil
    1 c. thinly sliced onions
    1 lb. fresh green beans, cut in 1-inch pieces (4 1/2 c.)
    1/4 tsp. dried thyme leaves
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. black pepper
    2 Tbsp. water
Preparation
    Cover husked corn with cold water, adding 1 teaspoon sugar per dozen ears. Bring to a boil and boil hard for 3 minutes.
    Turn off heat. Cover pot and let corn stay until wanted; the longer, the better.
