Yeast Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. milk
2 Tbsp. salt
3 Tbsp. sugar
3 Tbsp. shortening
2 yeast cakes
3 qt. sifted flour
Preparation

Scald milk; let cool to lukewarm.
Break up yeast in a cup of warm water.
Blend sugar, salt and shortening into flour.
Add the yeast mixture to flour mixture and mix thoroughly to form a stiff dough, adding warm milk as needed.
Knead dough thoroughly until smooth.
Grease bowl; place dough in bowl and grease top of dough. Let rise until double in size; punch down and let rise again. Work dough into loaves or rolls and let rise again until double in size.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 60 minutes for loaves and 30 minutes for rolls.
