Cheesy Potato Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 large potatoes, peeled and cut in pieces
    1 can mushroom soup
    3 carrots, cleaned and sliced
    5 slices American cheese
    small onion, chopped (optional)
Preparation
    Boil vegetables (potatoes, carrots and onions) until almost done (potatoes should be firm); drain.
    Prepare soup as directed on can.
    Add vegetables and heat to boiling.
    Add cheese slices. Stir until melted.
    Serve.
