French Apple Streusel - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. butter or margarine
    1 egg yolk
    milk
    8 c. peeled and sliced tart apples
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1/3 c. brown sugar
    1 small can (6 or 8 oz.) crushed pineapple
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. ground ginger
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 egg white, stiffly beaten
    1 c. confectioners sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 tsp. cornstarch
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 400\u00b0.
    In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly.
    Beat egg yolk in measuring cup.
    Add milk to egg to make 2/3 cup.
    Stir milk mixture into flour.
    Stir until mixture holds together.
