Angel Meringues - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 eggs whites
    2/3 c. sugar
    1 c. chopped walnuts
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 egg yolks
    1/2 c. sugar
    juice and rind of 1 lemon
    1 Tbsp. water
    1/2 pt. heavy cream
    cherries for topping
Preparation
    Beat egg whites until creamy.
    Add 2/3 cup sugar gradually. Beat until peaks form, fold in walnuts (optional) and vanilla. Drop by the tablespoon on foil covered cookie sheet, forming a well for filling.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes, then turn off oven and do not open for at least 8 hours.
    Makes 6 to 8 meringues.
