Ingredients

1 c. raisins
10 prunes or 1/2 c. dates, chopped
1 c. water
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs, well beaten
1 level tsp. powdered artificial sweetener
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. flour
1/2 c. nutmeats
Preparation

Boil raisins and prunes or dates in water for 3 minutes, then cool.
Add vegetable shortening; cool completely.
Add eggs and remaining ingredients; mix well together.
Chill cookie dough for 1 hour.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes at 350\u00b0.
Makes 4 dozen cookies.
