Venison Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. diced carrots
    1/2 c. diced celery
    1/2 c. diced onion
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/8 tsp. garlic powder
    2 lb. venison round steak, 1/2-inch thick
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 bay leaf
    2 c. beef broth
Preparation
    Saute carrots, celery and onion in butter until tender; remove from pan.
    Combine flour, salt, pepper and garlic powder.
    Dredge venison in flour mixture and brown in shortening on medium heat. Add sauteed vegetables, bay leaf and broth to meat.
    Cover and simmer for 1 hour or until tender.
    Great over rice!
    Makes 4 to 6 servings.
