Ma'S German Apple Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stick margarine
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    3 eggs
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 c. milk
    2 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    4 to 5 large apples, peeled and sliced
    1/2 c. sugar
    cinnamon to taste
    4 c. flour
    2 c. brown sugar
    4 tsp. baking soda
    1 Tbsp. ground ginger
    2 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. vegetable shortening
Preparation
    Sift dry ingredients in large mixing bowl.
    Cut in shortening. Mix will resemble cornmeal.
    Use within 10 to 12 weeks.
    Makes about seven cups.
