Saucepan Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. margarine
    2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    3/4 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. chopped nuts (optional)
    1 pkg. (2 layer size) chocolate cake, prepared according to pkg. directions and cooled
    1/4 c. granulated sugar
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    dash of salt
    1 lb. 4 oz. can frozen, pitted, tart red cherries, thawed
    1 tsp. rum extract
    1 c. softened butter or margarine
    4 1/2 c. sifted confectioners sugar
    2 envelopes (2 oz.) no melt unsweetened chocolate
    3 egg yolks
    buttercream frosting
Preparation
    Blend the granulated sugar, cornstarch and salt.
    Stir in cherries; cook over medium-low heat, stirring frequently until thick and clear.
    Reduce heat; cook 2 minutes more.
    Stir in rum extract; chill thoroughly.
