"Special Surprise" Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    pinch of salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 c. cocoa
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. water
    1 (8 oz.) can sauerkraut
Preparation
    Cream shortening; add sugar and eggs.
    Beat well.
    Add salt and vanilla.
    Beat well until blended.
    Sift cocoa, flour, baking powder and baking soda together.
    Add alternately to first mixture with water.
    Blend well.
    Add washed, drained and finely chopped sauerkraut.
    Blend.
