Chili - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. vegetable oil
    4 lb. chuck steak, coarsely ground
    1 onion, chopped
    2 garlic cloves, minced
    2 tsp. oregano, minced
    1 tsp. ground cumin
    2 Tbsp. chili powder
    3 Tbsp. tomato paste
    6 tomatoes, blanched, peeled, seeded and diced
    4 c. hot water
    salt to taste
    1/2 tsp. red pepper
Preparation
    Heat the oil in a heavy pan over medium heat and add beef, onion and garlic.
    Cook until lightly browned.
    Add the remaining ingredients, except for the salt, and bring to a boil.
    Lower the heat and simmer, uncovered, for about 1 hour.
    Skim occasionally and season with salt.
