Queen Elizabeth Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 pkg. dates
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp. soda
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. oleo
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. plain flour
1/3 tsp. salt
1/3 c. nuts

Preparation

Soak chopped dates in boiling water and soda.
Mix sugar, oleo, beaten egg and vanilla.
Mix baking powder, flour, salt and nuts.
Add to sugar mixture.
Add date mixture and bake in 9 x 14-inch pan for 35 minutes at 350\u00b0.
