Grandma'S Custard Pie(1940) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 eggs, slightly beaten
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    3 c. milk, scalded
    few gratings nutmeg or 1/4 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Line pie plate with pastry.
    Make a fluted standing rim. Combine eggs, sugar and salt.
    Gradually stir in milk.
    Add the flavoring.
    Pour into pie shell and bake at 450\u00b0 for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350\u00b0 and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
    Test with knife; if it does not come out clean, bake a few minutes longer.
