Mother'S Devil'S Food Cake(Birthday Cake) - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2/3 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1/2 c. hot water
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. thick sour milk
1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2/3 c. cocoa

Preparation

Cream shortening; add sugar gradually.
Beat eggs.
Mix hot water and cocoa; beat until smooth.
Then add cocoa to first mixture.
Add milk, soda and flavoring.
Sift flour, salt and baking powder and mix in with other ingredients.
Bake in moderate oven for 25 minutes.
Frost with Devil's Food Cake Icing.
