Mother'S Devil Food Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. plain flour
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. cocoa
    1 c. warm, mashed sweet potatoes (use fresh or canned potatoes)
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 c. milk
    3/4 c. margarine
    2 eggs
    1 c. black walnuts, chopped
Preparation
    Cream margarine and sugar.
    Add yolks of eggs.
    Add mashed sweet potatoes.
    Add cocoa and nuts.
    Stir well.
    Add milk and dry ingredients (which have been sifted together) alternately.
    Fold in beaten egg whites.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 in two 9-inch square pans lined with wax paper for 25 to 30 minutes. Check for doneness when cake pulls away from sides of pan.
    Frost with a confectioners sugar icing or cream cheese icing.
