Poppy Seed Cake And Icing - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. milk
    1/3 to 1/2 c. poppy seed
    1/2 c. butter
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 c. cake flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 egg whites, beaten until stiff peaks
Preparation
    Scald milk; pour over poppy seed.
    Cool and refrigerate overnight. Cream butter and sugar.
    Sift together dry ingredients. Add flour mixture alternately with poppy seed mixture to creamed mixture.
    Add vanilla and fold in egg whites.
    Bake in two greased and floured 8-inch pans or 9 x 13-inch pan at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
    Fill and frost.
