Salty-Sour Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 qt. vinegar
    3 c. sugar
    1/2 c. salt
    red pepper to taste
Preparation
    Soak cucumbers in ice water for 3 hours, then cut into spears. Mix vinegar, sugar and salt (red pepper to taste).
    Pack spears tightly in jar; boil vinegar, sugar and salt (pepper to taste). Pour over cucumbers, seal and seat in hot water bath for 5 minutes.
