Divinity - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1/2 c. white corn syrup
1/2 c. boiling water
2 egg whites, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla extract
cherries (optional)
nuts (optional)
Preparation

Combine sugar, corn syrup and water.
Cook over moderate heat until mixture spins a thread when dropped from a spoon.
Gradually add to the beaten egg whites, beating all the while.
Add vanilla and beat until candy loses its gloss and stands in peaks.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper.
Top with cherries or nuts, if desired.
Yields 1 1/2 pounds.
