Buttermilk Icing - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients in a large saucepan, except vanilla. Bring to a boil and cook until forms a soft ball, 238\u00b0 on candy thermometer.
    Remove from heat; add vanilla and beat until thick. Spread on warm cake.
