Squash Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 lb. diced yellow squash
    1 egg, beaten
    1/3 c. self-rising flour
    1/3 c. self-rising cornmeal
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 medium onion, finely chopped
    cooking oil
Preparation
    Cook squash covered in boiling water until tender; drain.
    Mash enough to fill one cup; save remainder.
    Combine the one cup mashed squash with eggs; stir well.
    Combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder and salt.
    Stir well.
    Add squash mixture; add onion.
    Stir well until blended.
    Drop mixture by tablespoon into hot oil until well browned.
