Round Steak Special - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 round steak (1/2 inch thick)
    salt and pepper
    flour
    fat
    1 c. sliced onions
    2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    2 Tbsp. soy sauce
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 tsp. herbs (thyme, basil, marjoram or oregano)
Preparation
    Sprinkle steak with salt, pepper and flour; pound on both sides with meat pounder or edge of heavy saucer.
    In a large, heavy skillet or Dutch oven, brown steak well in a few tablespoons of hot fat.
    Top with sliced onions.
    Combine tomato sauce with rest of ingredients and pour over meat.
    Cover and cook over low heat until tender, about 1 1/2 hours.
    Watch carefully to prevent sticking.
    Add water as tomato sauce cooks away.
    Serves 4.
