Mac'S 5-Alarm Chili - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. coarsely ground beef
    1 c. chopped onions
    3 green chilies (whole with seeds), chopped
    1 can red kidney beans (Van Camp's New Orleans Style)
    1 can tomatoes, chopped
    1 c. water
    salt
    pepper
Preparation
    In a cast-iron pan, brown meat with onions and peppers.
    Add beans, tomatoes and water.
    Reduce heat, cover and simmer 3 hours. Add liquid, if needed, to keep it from burning.
    Add pepper and salt to taste.
    Cool.
    Let ripen in refrigerator overnight.
    Skim off fat.
    Reheat to serve, with cole slaw, orange juice, crackers and cherry pie.
