Waldorf Red Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 Tbsp. cocoa
2 oz. red food coloring
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. salt
2 1/4 c. cake flour, sifted before measuring
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vinegar
Preparation

Cream together shortening, sugar and eggs.
Make a paste of food coloring and cocoa.
Add paste to creamed mixture and mix. Add buttermilk alternately with salt, flour and vanilla.
Mix thoroughly.
Combine soda and vinegar in a small bowl and add foaming mixture to rest of cake mixture.
Pour into 2 greased and floured 9-inch layer cake pans.
Bake for 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
