Lottie Gardner'S Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. cocoa
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. hot water
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking sods
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. buttermilk

Preparation

Mix cocoa, sugar, eggs and shortening.
Cream.
Add hot water. Add flour, soda and salt.
Last add buttermilk.
Bake at 325\u00b0 until done, about 45 minutes, in a 9 x 13-inch pan that has been greased and floured.
Top with chocolate icing.
