Onion Pie - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. sliced onions
1/4 c. butter
2 Tbsp. flour
2 eggs, separated
1 tsp. salt
1 c. heavy cream
1 (9-inch) pie shell, prebaked for 10 minutes
4 strips crisp bacon, crumbled
Preparation

Melt butter in skillet, add onions, cover and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes or until onions are transparent.
Beat egg yolks with salt until yolks are light and thick.
Stir in cream. Add onions and flour; stir enough to blend.
Whip egg whites until stiff but not dry.
Fold gently into onion mixture.
Pour into baked and cooled pie shell.
Sprinkle with bacon.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown and custard is firm.
